Support Groups
When I was helping out at Actors Co-op many people would call to say that they are coming to work in the entertainment industry in Hollywood and ask if we know of other Christians working in movies and television programs. I was always happy to report that there are thousands! There are also many excellent ministries in Hollywood that concentrate on fellowship and evangelism.
There is an increase in Christians influence in Hollywood. Ted Baher stated, "Indeed, there has been an increased searching for truth among many. A Christian executive producer had the privilege in the first week of April of leading another producer in prayer for salvation. This was not a spur of the moment conversion but the result of ten years of concerted corporate and individual intercessory prayer in this person's behalf."
I have listed these resources for you to pray for, support financially, and - for those of you called here to Hollywood - to use as a means of getting connected when you arrive. I do not endorse one group over another - but know them all to be groups committed to their role in Hollywood. Each group has different objectives and goals. Some are open to all outside visitors, some are occupation specific, and some are by invitation and membership only. Please contact the groups yourself to gain detailed information. Also, remember, these ministries are not to replace your local congregation. There are also many great churches in the Hollywood area. I have included a list of those as well.
